Holiday Hugs & Kisses
Updated: Feb 17, 2019
This little treat is so easy to make and SO worth it! How can you go wrong with pretzels, Hershey’s kisses, and m&m’s?!! YOU CAN'T. These are perfect to make for just about any occasion. Like….. if you have a holiday party (or any party) to attend and want to bring a little something, but don’t have the time to make anything fancy…yeah I think we’ve all been there. I promise people won’t be complaining when you walk through the door with these.
We started making them with our mom during one of our annual Christmas baking days and now we do it for every baking day we have- it’s a tradition! We love them because they can be made for just about any holiday. Christmas? Use green and red m&m’s. Halloween? Use orange m&m’s. Valentine’s day? Use pink and red m&m’s. St. Patrick’s day? Use green m&m’s. Okay….you get the point.
You can use regular mini shape pretzels or buttersnaps. We used buttersnaps because we like the light, soft buttery taste of them. You will need to unwrap ALLLL of the Hershey’s kisses (which is the annoying part so we do this in the very beginning before everything else just to get it out of the way lol) and place them on top of the pretzels. Again, you can use any type of Hershey’s kisses you want. We chose to do a combination of Hershey’s kisses and hugs. For Christmas time, it’d be a cute idea to use the red and white striped Candy Cane Hershey’s kisses with a red m&m on top! Wait, why did we JUST think of this idea???
Once all of the kisses are on, you are going to put them in the oven. We noticed that the hugs tend to melt a lot more than the kisses, so when you put the m&m on top after they come out of the oven, don’t press the m&m down too much into the hugs. For the kisses, you can use a little more force pushing the m&m down. (but, like, still be gentle...) Once all of the m&m’s are put on, just place the sheet pan in the fridge and let the pretzels chill for 20-30 minutes! Now quickly go eat them!! They will be gone before you know it. Seriously... these are one of the most addicting treats we make.
Buttersnap pretzels (up to you how big of a bag you want to get!)
Hershey’s kisses or Hershey’s hugs (we used a family size bag!)
